Issues
ENDING WASTE, FRAUD AND BUDGET ABUSE
Our citizens cannot afford continued property tax increases which not only increase costs for homeowners, including our senior citizens, but also renters. The Commission’s most recent property tax increase went way above any projections toward revenue neutral. It is time for fiscal responsibility in Mecklenburg County.
PROTECTING OUR CITIZENS
Senior citizens, children, families – all our citizens – must be safe from crime in our county. As our next County Commissioner, I will work with law enforcement throughout the county and our court system to fight crime and end lawlessness. I will also work to end sanctuary policies which have our sheriff fail to notify immigration officials upon the arrest of criminally charged illegal aliens. Safety must come before politics.
SAFEGUARDING EDUCATION
We must focus on a quality education for all our kids to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, our Commission has focused on spending without results. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools spend more per pupil than other counties with weaker academic results. In addition, our schools face safety issues. We need accountability in the system.
ENSURING COLLABORATION
We have endured years of a Commissioner who views her role as an authority to push political policies rather than work in collaboration as a public servant with other local leaders. As our next Commissioner, I will work with all community leaders, regardless of background or party. It is the only way to have a great county to live, work, play, and raise a family in long into the future.
